Heartbreak Warfare

Article By: Leroy " The Guitar Player"

Experiencing hurt while proclaiming what's right according to the Word of God... is what I have termed “Heartbreak Warfare.”

This psychological emotion is experienced when you speak the truth in love, in efforts to break a downward spiral or to avoid a fall altogether. Speaking the truth in love does not mean your words will be accepted, valued or appreciated, and this causes the heart break. Proclaiming truth, the gospel and the principles of the Word of God is where the warfare begins. This is warfare because any principality, power or spiritual wickedness in high places will be vehemently opposed to the proclamation of truth.

The Bible says in Eph 6:10-18
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.  Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.  Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:  Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints..” KJV

(The portion of Scripture in bold print is the basis for my conviction.)

Caring for the prosperity of people is a major motivating force which causes me to speak.  I certainly have no ax to grind, I am not disgruntled because “I did not get my way” and I speak not to besmirch the reputation of anyone. The truth is what I love and the truth is what loves me.

Verse 12 of Ephesians 6 is where the warfare opposition resides, because it is the principalities, the powers, the rulers of darkness of this world and the spiritual wickedness in high places which determines what the man (who has submitted himself to these forces) may say and do.  For this reason, I am not at odds with flesh and blood, neither is it my battle, I simply proclaim that which the Bible says, all while having no agenda and desiring no reward from any man. It is guaranteed that the truth will be victorious, so I have determined to be on the winning side.

Heartbreak Warfare is not for everyone but without it, the numbers of people who are victimized would be greater and the duration of oppression longer.

To my brothers and sisters who remain at Cornerstone and to anyone who finds themselves in the midst of spiritual abuse, Heartbreak Warfare involves asking questions. If you refrained from asking questions because you don't want to be mischaracterized as being a complainer or if you’ve convinced yourself to remain silent by saying “I won't complain”, you are actually saying I will suffer quietly and it is at that point the spiritual abuse continues.  And although the Word of God is ready to work for you, it will have been made null and void in your life. Why?  Because 100% of the levels you experience in God are directly related to your obedience to him.

There is no aspect of our lives which does not involve asking questions, why would a church be any different? As a child the first question we all ask our parents is why? Our adolescent years the question was how come…? And in our teen years most of the questions sought permission to explore…can I? Why then as an adult, would the ability to question leadership be removed altogether?, in a word CAPTIVITY.

I cannot count the number of times which I have found myself in the middle of what should have been a praise and worship service, but turned out to be warfare... a battle trying to make me forget what the Word of God says and forget the standard of holiness required to lead. I found myself questioning everything that went on in front of me. These occurrences turned into a week of Sundays and then a month of Sundays, which gave way to years and years wasted questioning one’s self rather than leadership.

When I recalled my various encounters with God and the numerous ways he manifested himself to me. It was his voice, his presence, the anointing and the free flowing of the Spirit of God that I was missing, the best scriptural comparison I’ve found would be Psalms 137.

Ps 137:1-6 (Message Bible)
"Alongside Babylon's rivers we sat on the banks; we cried and cried, remembering the good old days in Zion.  Alongside the quaking aspens we stacked our unplayed harps; That's where our captors demanded songs, sarcastic and mocking: "Sing us a happy Zion song!" Oh, how could we ever sing God's song in this wasteland?  If I ever forget you, Jerusalem, let my fingers wither and fall off like leaves. Let my tongue swell and turn black if I fail to remember you, if I fail, O dear Jerusalem, to honor you as my greatest."

I agree whole heartedly with the psalmist when he expresses his commitment to preserving the memory of Jerusalem and I also realize that when you know the Word of God, BUT ARE NOT ALLOWED TO MOVE FREELY IN IT, you are captive. And with this captivity there are two choices:  Submission or Warfare.

Heartbreak warfare intensifies when those you know and love are headed for a fall...

This perception causes you to reach out, to grab and hold in an effort to protect. The natural reaction of the person you grabbed or spoke to would be to ask, what you are doing?  They may give the appearance of being receptive, but the level of agreement is gauged by their actions. When the people of God agree there is something wrong going on, but take no actions to distance themselves from it, the felt heartbreak grows. It becomes almost unbearable when they isolate themselves from you, even though it is not you who has transgressed the Word of God. It is clear, I have no power to free anyone, but I do have words and the Bible says Rev 12:11-- "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death."

It is the word of my testimony that I offer as a tool to create more victorious people in the Kingdom of God. Don’t allow your conscious to be silenced, because once it flat lines, it will take a devastating shock to resurrect it.

The enemy is NOT a man but a mind set...

  1. Wow Leroy. Very powerful and insightful. It is true that the enemy is not a man, but a mindset. Individuals get their minds set about things and do not want to hear the truth, even if it comes from the Word of God about the situation at hand.

It does indeed become Heartbreak Warfare as our hearts break knowing that our brothers and sisters in Christ can knowingly continue to support a man and his ministry when that man is no longer abiding by or living according to the full counsel of God's Word. We are not to take from the Word or add to it with personal revelation to expalin away sin or make light of it.

The Word of God is clear what we are to do when there is sin and false doctrine among us. We are to flee and we are to call out false teachers for what they are, not carry on with continued excuses such as nobody is perfect. That indeed is true and that is why we are to seek forgiveness, repent and turn from our wicked ways, not sweep them under the rug. We are not to continue on and make light of sin saying that God is bigger than our sin and he uses imperfect people. Yes, indeed He does, but when the heart and mind of a man who calls himself a bishop is set on his own desires and agenda rather than God's, it is time to pack up and hit the road.

Wow Penny. That translation just says it like it is - simpleton, meaning a person who has the inability to think for one's self and make a wise decision, but rather follows the crowd and the wow factor. In other words, very simple minded and shallow.

On another note, check out the following website. It describes nicely what is and has been taking place with Michael Pitts and the crowd he runs with. It is indeed a scary thing and must be called out for what it is - false doctrine and revelation.

    http://www.letusreason.org/Latrain22.htm

One final note. I just happened to tune in to the end of the Cornerstone service yesterday. It is very interesting to note that when Michael does an altar call apparently for salvation, I don't know as the word salvation was never used and neither was the word repent or rededicate or ask forgiveness for your sins and invite Jesus into your heart. All he kept saying was that Jesus would calm the storms in their lives.
That is all well and good, but it is very misleading and does not come close to the Bible's description of salvation and how to receive it. What exactly are they receiving and how?? Again, very watered down and then Michael gets all excited at how many came forward to the altar but again, no mention of the word salvation.

Sad indeed and perhaps just an indication of what the link above is describing about the "prophets" and "apostles" of today.

  4. @Leroy,

Awesome and insightful comments. It really sounds like it was heartbreak warfare for you. It is sad indeed when you have so faithfully given of your time and talent to a pastor and his vision that it came to so mcuh questioning and at times doubt for you about yourself.

It's funny how twisted around things can get when there is deception and denial flowing from the "head" on down. Michael Pitts truly lost his ability to lead his sheep and care for his sheep. It became all about him and his agenda and less about those who gave so much to serve under his "leadership" and vision. And that is truly where the heartbreak has happened.

  5. To Telling It Like It Is,

Great article from the link you suggested. It definitely is reminiscent of my time spent at Cornerstone as the years went by. The more "revelation" that came forth, the farther the "Bishop" of the house seemed to get from the truth of God's Word. Levels, taking dominion on earth, acquiring the wealth of the wicked and delivering the kingdom over to God one day all sounds wonderful, but completely unscriptural. I guess Michael and his devotees think that a bit of truth mixed with motivational mumbo jumbo = gospel truth.

We are living in dark and deceptive times with many false teachers and prophets in the church today. It is time to wise up and see that God is doing a mighty shaking in the earth right now and judgement will begin in the house of God.

  6. I'm new to this blog. I have attended Cornerstone off and on and it seems like a great church and I always feel good when I leave. A friend and former member told me about this blog, so I checked it out.

I was there Sunday and I guess I didn't think anything about the altar call. It sounded good to have Jesus calm the storm in your life. But now that I read Telling It Like It Is's comment, I had to stop and think about it.

What I realized is that there really wasn't mention of salvation or giving your life to Jesus. There wasn't a sinner's prayer like I have heard in other churches. It was just about Jesus making things all right. I suppose there is nothing wrong with that. We could all use His help.

So, what harm can it do to have an altar call that has people come forward who need Jesus to calm the storm in their lives? Maybe some of the people were already saved. I know Bishop did get excited by all the people who came down to the altar. I'm just not sure what there is to be so concerned about? Perhaps some people are just a bit too religious and don't like Bishop's style or way of doing things. At least he gets people to the altar. Maybe the altar workers prayed the sinner's prayer with them. I'm just sayin'. And if I'm missing something deeper, I'm open to what others may have to say.

What you will find over time, is that you ARE made to feel good and inspired, but too much of one thing is not good for anyone. there is not one thing done in that place that does not involve getting money, you won't come back if you don't feel good and you won't join if you don't feel inspired, and you can't give if you don't come. They will convict you twice a week to give money, but WILL NOT CONVICT YOU OF SIN twice a year, the gospel and it's affects are clear, it's when the formula gets watered down that causes problems and gray areas. For the "un-churched" individual, sitting under this type of teaching, it will make you into a flesh creature, and offer all kinds of excuses why you can't control yourself. For the seasoned saint it causes a war in your spirit, this battle will cause you to forget your foundation so you too will become a flesh creature. From the pastor down to the various clicks and clubs, it's true "birds of the feather flock together" The man who likes to drink, surrounds himself with people who like to drink, the people who like to party, surround them selves with people who like to party, the people who are after sex, seek out others who are willing to participate. these examples are true at any church. The questions becomes; How does God convict us of our wrong, when God has been replaced in the eye's of cornerstone members and visiting ministry, with a man, a man who WILL NOT DEAL WITH SIN! this causes sin, which should be brought from the outside into the church to be healed and cleansed, instead a special brand of sin is grown and developed inside the church, and this development takes time to gain acceptance. You will not fit in if you read, fast and pray. So read your bible and compare every single thing you see and hear in leadership with the word of God and your answer will be clear as to whats going on, it's not deep, it's right in front of you.

  8. Would it be possible to call people by their actual name like Michael?

    Bishop this Bishop that...

Here is the problem folks: HE IS NOT A BISHOP ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE.

This is a sign of being religious when we can't even just call people by their real name.

Can we just call him Michael and kill the Bishop this and Bishop that jargon?????

Thanks for the insight Leroy, your words bring much clarity. I would say that you may know a thing or two about the direction that Cornerstone has taken, being that you were able to objectively observe the church from the platform for almost two decades. (Which is harder for those who haven't attended as long, to be able to compare the "former glory" to that which remains today.) It's nice to know that there was STILL someone of integrity sitting up there over the years. I want to thank you for not "bowing down" to the pressure to compromise.

I too was a long time member of Cornerstone. I was also involved in many ministries for several years, including the altar workers. In the beginning, everything was good. We were given a lot of freedom to pray with people and was always encouraged to take a plenty of time for those who came up for prayer. But what I noticed over the years was that "appearances" become increasingly more and MORE important. And the freedom to bring deliverance became increasingly tightened over the years, as well as the spirit around the platform. I couldn't put my finger on it initially, but over time I could no longer ignore it. It just felt "heavy”. There at the end, I would almost cringe everytime they called the altar workers up; because I felt that I was just becoming more and more apart of a "show". This grieved my heart because I truly cared about each person and thought they were more than just a "prayer card" or a number to increase our “numbers”.

We went from literally casting demons out of people to being told NOT to spend anymore than 3-5 minutes with them and then get right to filling out the CONTACT CARD. God forbid you FORGET to get them to give you all their personal information (including a photo) –that’s what become more important over the years as well.

My only real objection to the time constrant was because the music was SO LOUD that half the time I had to repeat what I was saying like 2 or 3 times. I also thought it was important to at least take a couple of minutes to converse with them about the meaning of salvation and at least try to answer any questions they might have -like we use to do. Just to be friendly I suppose and show them respect as an individual for having the courage to walk up for prayer and reveal some very personal information. Eventually we were told this was not necessary and was taking up too much time. We were also constantly warned to not "bring attention" to ourselves. Half the time I think they were just worried that a “mere altar worker” might have more anointing to deliver someone than they do. Hmm….

Leroy, I too could no longer stand around and watch the integrity of the altars becoming increasingly compromised. Not only in my experience with the “altar worker ministry”, but as something else started to take over the “ministry” of the altar itself. I had to choose. Do I continue to come and support behavior/teaching that I KNOW in my spirit is no longer lining up with scripture? Once you’ve been shown the truth, you are just as guilty if you continue to support it. I feared God and His Word more. End of Story.

  10. It has been my experience that leadership was indeed threatened by anyone that was gifted to preach or pray for others. And God forbid someone having a word of knowledge or prophecy. We were taught that those things existed, but somehow, only paid ministry were given these "special abilities." The real motivation for this is really all about control. The leadership could not keep control if the Holy Spirit was really able to flow freely.

I am not proud to admit that God used a donkey to speak, so how "special" am I to be "anointed" to deliver someone or deliver a word from God. Indeed, it is not who I am in Christ, it is who Christ is in me.....in spite of me and my wretched self. We are all anointed to do all that Christ did.....being taught to operate in that anointing is something entirely different. Exercising and practicing that gift is another thing that was not practiced, which goes directly against what Paul taught in Ephesians 4:11-13 "11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ"

Let us examine the danger of not calling attention to the need for true repentance. If we do not acknowledge sin in our lives then we are led to believe that there is no need for sanctification. As a church leader, I am called to "make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey all that I (JESUS) have commanded." If a leader is truly making disciples (not of themselves, of Christ) then they should be teaching how to become more like Jesus every day. Now we all know that Jesus was sinless, so that is what we are to strive for. Not an easy task, never the less, one that we as Christ-follower are to do. It wasn't a suggestion. It most times sanctification involves pain and almost never feels good. But knowing that you are being refined and purified is priceless!

We live in a culture that has glorified achievement rather than character, so "going to the next level" is much easier to swallow than "pick up your cross", "Blessed are those who are persecuted for my sake", "if they hate you, they hated me first." That is really TRUTH my brothers and sisters. Truth is constant, facts may change, but truth never changes. That is why Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Horary for you Leroy for "buying the truth and selling it not..." Scripture tells us to BUY the truth, that means it should cost something.

I would like to say thank you to Leroy, Let God Be True and Angela for your comments. You have really made me stop and think about some things.

I agree Leroy that it is easy to feel good and to be inspired and that those things do keep you coming back. I guess at some level you don't necessarily want to go to a church that always makes you feel bad though or that doesn't inspire you to do something.

So, it is a difficult thing to sort through at times. However, as a christian, one should also be challenged to live as Jesus lived and strive to overcome sin rather than make excuses or make light of sin or worse yet, ignore it's existence altogether. As Angela said, there needs to be repentance and a striving to make disciples of Christ, not man. Wow, a lot to think about there.

As for Let God Be True, you make some very good points as well to consider. It's hard to tell what actually goes on at the altar, but I guess it is good to have people coming forward. If what you say is true, then it is definitely a sad thing. I can't understand why they wouldn't want you to draw attention to yourself. That sounds strange.

I will continue to watch and see how I feel about things there as time goes on. In the meantime pray for me.

  12. Anon, I will definately be praying that you would let the truth set you free. I always went to my bible after a service and made the scripture fit what Michael was preaching. I would suggest asking God for a fresh set of eyes for you to see things for what they are, not filtered through all your past teachings.

is that a speck in my brothers eye..nevermind its a beam in my own..may God grant me his grace to look at me..and not at others..thinkaboutit

What does this scripture really mean? I thought we were to judge those within the church and call sin out??

  15. Need Clarity:

Judge not – but judge those within the church and call sin out??

For me – the ideal is that we do not judge those “outside.” But we are responsible to maintain order within our own house. I am part of a body. Now, if there is a part of MY body in pain and therefore not acting in accordance to its design, then I would get myself to the doctor. In a sense, his examination and diagnosis and (hopefully) care will help with complete restoration and healing. However, until *I* not only acknowledge something is wrong – and then ACCEPT that something is wrong, I will never get help. I will continue to ignore the issue.
What happens then is that other parts of my body begin to over compensate and things become unbalanced. If I have a toothache on the right side, I chew on the left. My jaw gets worn down in an imbalance and my teeth get overly worn on one side. If I have a sore leg, I favor the other – and the muscles in the sore one begin to atrophy while the one in use becomes built up, causing the musculature of my entire body to shift. I, however, do not know anyone else's pain.

When a family member is acting off the chain, it is merely a symptom of the big picture of the family dynamic. There is never just one person who is “off” in a family. We all grow up into out familial roles and tend to play them out the rest of our lives. None of us are 100% - all of us could use a little recovery.

Now, when I sit in recovery and listen to shares – sometimes destructive behaviors do rear their head. People backslide – people are white knuckling it – people are in a “dry drunk” state (not abusing substances but still in the addict mindset and therefore being destructive/self-destructive). As a trusted member of that group – I would simply point out that the behavior seems destructive (or is) and ask “why do you suppose this is happening?” There is a gentleness that is a must… and conversations among trusted members and in a safe place allow for self questioning, examination, etc. As a sponsor/recovery partner, I would most definitely sit down with my partner and point blank say, “What is going on? And perhaps probe to help them open up about whether they want to turn things around…”

  16. PART II

AS THE BACKSLIDER (ta da!)– I am responsible for me. I am responsible for my OWN recovery. I have long since learned to not point a finger to call anyone LESS THAN. The human paradigm is the same for all of us. This is truly a challenge when sitting next to people it would seemingly be easy to think of as “LESS THAN.” At the same time, no one is above us. No one is “GREATER THAN.” Some can speak with more authority due to experience – some are wiser – but that does not make them greater than me. In this case, I need to remain open to correction, no?

Now – in the event someone outside the family loses their mind… Let’s say Charlie Sheen, for example. Boy, it’s easy to say he is disgruntled. He is _____. Lindsay Lohan – sheesh – there’s a train wreck. Really? You can put anyone in here – the rapist, the murderer, etc. These are people who are coming from a place of pain and anguish doing what they can with what they have. I am in no way able to call either of them out – I am not responsible to call them out – My place is within my family, my group, my house.

If someone is sincerely seeking and working and stripping their flesh to get to the spirit – I will hold their hand through their recovery. They will teach me far more than I could ever teach them, it is the way it always works. I can help someone not as far as me in recovery, but that process teaches me, each and every time. I am also forced to be honest with myself—my tools include MY stories and experiences to offer hope and wisdom. That hurts. A lot. The unit, however, is so much better for it and closer to wholeness. Granted, there are people I can no longer “play with.” It has NOTHING to do with THEM. It has to do with my own recovery and health. I also reserve the right to reignite any relationship – NOTHING is forever, except death.

So to me, that is judging and not judging. I am sure this made absolutely no sense… glad I could confuse the masses even more.

  17. PS = Calling Out Charlie Sheen -
I mean in a spiritual sense - if the man breaks the law, he breaks the law. If he is hurting someone and I know about it, I do feel I am responsible for saying something to SOME ONE.

It's a razor's edge this flesh vs spirit junk.
    Man. What a balancing act.

  18. To Need Clarity:

Here's a hint: Sometimes people try to "reframe the argument", when they can no longer refute overwhelming evidence of truth.

Let’s take a look at Matt. 7 and continue on where Michael stopped quoting the Word…

"Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. 3And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 5Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and THEN SHALT THOU SEE CLEARLY TO CAST OUT THE MOTE out of thy brother's eye."

Also let’s take another scripture and compare it to the above scripture for accuracy of interpretation. (John 7:24) Jesus says, “Judge not according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment.”

So clearly we are to judge. There is a difference however (as Penny said) between judging the motivation of a person’s heart (intent) and judging the accuracy of their words, judging the fruit of their actions, and/or calling out sin for exactly what it is. Plainly speaking, “Judge not, that ye be not judged” warns us against making personal appraisals of others. We should always keep in mind that God, not man, is the discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Matt. 7 also gives us a clear definition of exactly what a HYPOCRITE is. It is one who “proclaims” they have something to offer, but actually DO NOT possess it.

For example, the Pharisees were called hypocrites all throughout the NT. I believe Jesus is saying --You are nothing more than a RELIGIOUS HYPOCRITE when you “say” you can help deliver your brother from something, that you yourself are not free from! You are claiming to offer something that you DO NOT currently have to give. So FIRST, go become free yourself in that area of your life AND THEN you will be able to (see clearly enough) to help deliver your brother from his/her similar struggle as well. This is why Jesus went on to say “Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye."

In other words, if you are an unrepentent alcoholic and adulterer…. How then would you then be able to help your brother who is also struggling with alcoholism and sexual sin? You wouldn't, because it is impossible to remove that “log”; you cannot see clearly enough to do so.

Also, Christ is instructing us in Matt. 7 to take the time to examine our own hearts on a regular basis. This will keep us from constantly seeking to find faults in others. Taking the time to peek inside the crevices of our own hearts and judging ourselves first, is not only healthy… but puts us in the best possible position of helping others as well.

"Can the blind lead the blind? Shall they not both fall into the ditch?
    --Jesus

  19. Accountability and judgement are 2 different things. We know people by their fruit. Fruit meaning their lives, their behavior, their actions. How they treat their wife, family. And are people really disposable? Where is RP's wife? This is a sad story no matter what side of it you come out on.

  20. This whole Cornerstone experience has become a bad dream. You attend a church for years believing and trusting in your pastors that they actually represent the titles they hold and along with that should come christian values and standards.

However, you wake up one day & realize they are phonies & swindlers, an& the gospel they preach is not the gospel you once knew. It is a whole nother gospel that brings them great gain and allows them (Michael & Robert) to live by some new standard whereby because they are in charge, they don't have to be accountable or repent. All they have to do when they are knowingly living a lifestyle of sin (which in my opinion is different from sinning as we will all do) is say that no one is perfect and God can use anyone, even the imperfect. And who are we to judge? Well, how about that?

Yes, God has called & used many a wayward soul, but I venture to say that was before they got saved & God saw what He made before they even got saved & knew what He could do once they gave their heart to Him.

However, when you are in a pastoral or God-forbid "Bishop" position & you continue to live a lifestyle that offends others who may be young in the Lord, and they then go astray because of excusing such behavior as, everybody has stuff in their lives, it is a sad day in christiandom.

The lifestyles exhibited by Michael & Robert Pitts as well as Derek Thomas over these last 5-6 years have been lacking in serious moral & spiritual integrity. The spirit of pride & arrogance has narrowed their focus & caused many sheep of their tainted pasture to go astray and to be scattered. And no matter how many leave their twisted fold, they have no regard for them and cast them aside like a used rag.

The problem is that there is no accountability to anyone with Michael, Robert and Derek, not even their wives or soon to be ex-wives in the case of Robert & Derek. I say sock it to 'em Kelly & Madilyn. Apparently sheep are a dime a dozen to them and they see them only in terms of $$$$$ and what they have to offer to make them and their kingdom look better.

It's all a farce and they continue to attract blind sheep drawn in by the show and kept by grandiose promises not found in God's Word. The true kingdom is not about what you can heap up for yourself, but about sowing into the lives of others.

To Michael, Robert & Derek it is appalling how you all feed off of one another and use one another to keep such a crooked kingdom going. I can only pray that God has mercy on your greedy power hungry, lascivious souls.

It is becoming easier everyday to see why many people want nothing to do with "organized religion". It is men like Michael and Robert who give chrisitanity and churches in general a bad rap.

I say, it's time for them to wrap it up and take their wares to the secular world in the form of motivational speaking like good old Tony Robbins. At least he doesn't try to sell things disguised as "spiritual revelation" and then take up a seed offering filled with fairy tale promises.

  21. To Angry About It All,

I'm sorry that you are so upset about your Cornerstone experience. I happen to feel differently about Bishop Michael Pitts and Robert.

First of all Bishop is an outstanding, anointed man of God. I know you may not think so, but he can preach the house down better than any other preacher I know. And nobody in this town can come close to his revelation. As for Pastor Robert, he keeps the house running smoothly. And the rest of the pastors are just as anointed and help take care of the needs of those in house. They are an awesome staff and I can't understand why so many people have to dis them all the time.

As for the supposed divorces, I haven't heard anything about that and as for Derek's supposed affairs, I just think it is former disgruntled members judging without any real facts. And even if it's true, we need to forgive him and pray for him.

I just wish people who no longer go to Cornerstone would just drop the gossip and lies spoken here. And I would certainly like to know what false doctrine Bishop preaches. I think he is right on with verses from the Bible and is trying to increase our faith and blessings . After all, we are supposed to take dominion while we are here on this earth and the wealth of the wicked is ours. Read your Bibles as you always tell us to do.

Bishop will be preaching the house down on Easter. Tune in.

"First of all Bishop is an outstanding, anointed man of God."

Bishops can be repeat offenders in terms of carelessly drinking and even driving while over the limit as well as driving while his license is suspended. I'm sure it is in the Bishop's creed somewhere.

"I know you may not think so, but he can preach the house down better than any other preacher I know."

No one said he couldn't preach. No one. We have said to not confuse the gift with the anointing. How many preachers do you know? All of them?

"And nobody in this town can come close to his revelation."

Terrific. Why don't you tell us what exactly that "revelation" is? Maybe that is why "this town" is in the condition it is in which is near financial as well as spiritual bankruptcy.

"As for Pastor Robert, he keeps the house running smoothly."

No, he most certainly does not. It is all about the mask the entire organization wears. Ask him to show you the books sometime.

"And the rest of the pastors are just as anointed and help take care of the needs of those in house. They are an awesome staff and I can't understand why so many people have to dis them all the time."

There are certain needs they are gifted at ministering to. There are other needs where you would be better off kissing an angry badger than expect support from them.

"As for the supposed divorces, I haven't heard anything about that and as for Derek's supposed affairs, I just think it is former disgruntled members judging without any real facts."

When the divorces are final, the records will be made public. Do not worry. The announcements will be real even though one is most likely to appear in Florida as opposed to Ohio. As far as proof about affairs of DT, I suppose we could insist on paternity tests. I don't think it will go very smoothly considering these "supposed" rumors haven't really been dealt with at all.

"And even if it's true, we need to forgive him and pray for him."

And excuse him from any kind of accountability even though he is a leader in the church. I'm sure that's in a creed somewhere too.

"I just wish people who no longer go to Cornerstone would just drop the gossip and lies spoken here."

They aren't lies. Because you don't see it, doesn't mean the rest of us haven't. And if they WERE lies, dont you think there would be one major lawsuit in the works?

"And I would certainly like to know what false doctrine Bishop preaches. I think he is right on with verses from the Bible and is trying to increase our faith and blessings."

There are plenty of articles on here and on the web about the false teachings of prosperity doctrine. I favor the doctrine of Christ.

"After all, we are supposed to take dominion while we are here on this earth and the wealth of the wicked is ours. Read your Bibles as you always tell us to do."

Which is why many of those anointed staff members have had to file for bankruptcy. The wealth of the wicked was theirs.

"Bishop will be preaching the house down on Easter. Tune in."

    No.

Are you really serious? The people that seem to know the least about what is going on at CC are the people that attend. Afraid to ask, being humble zombies, er, uh, I mean servants. Those outside know more of the truth than those "closest" to the debauchery. Such a sad little pathetic place to be in. Can't see the forest because all of the trees are in the way can you? Sis. Kelly is not coming back. (And you think it normal?)The Bible calls people that commit sexual sin adulterers. You call them people that had a "bump in the road". Derek's "affairs" have been going on since the beginning. As for preaching the house down? Really? I think it is "whipping" mindless people into an enthusiastic buzz for a few hours. That is not revelation deary! What does excited preaching really have to do with anything? The Apostle Paul was most likely not a very powerful preacher. Read 2 Cor. 10. His letters to the church were powerful, but the people thought his presence and his speaking were poor at best. Maybe he just lacked the ability of "walking in revelation". Please , what you call "preaching the house down" and "walking in revelation" are really just distractions from the lack of character, integrity and anointing. "God's Man" or "men" should shut their traps about other ministers as well as God's people. They are the most blatant transgressors of speaking against God's anointed I have ever personally come in contact with. A great place to start on your false doctrine may be the leaven of sexual sin and the leaven of hypocrisy practiced by these men. Next, check out the doctrine and deeds of the Nicolaitans. (Rev. 2) Jesus hated both. Literally meaning the "domination of the clergy over the laity". Not sure how much wealth of the wicked it will get you, but it may save your soul. We could go on but I don't think you know your Bible well enough (nor care to) to find out. Can't find any bad doctrine? Really, ha. What a sad situation to be in to be... so ignorant of the Word of God, yet so willing to endorse wicked and corrupt men because you can't find any bad doctrine because I felt better after the service. . It's ok, I am only drinking a little poison by being a part. After all, I'm getting money to "come to me". Oh brother.

  24. "And nobody in town can come close to his revelation."

Really??? This is exactly the mindset (or SPELL rather) I remember being under for many years. Exalting the GIFT. We are to judge FRUIT not an ability to preach.

This sounds like another typical "kool-aide" drinker who thinks the good "Bishop" needs help defending his reputation. Oh, I forgot that was pretty much ruined already by his own doing. Again, not qualified according to 1 Tim. 3. And as far as Robert... running the church smoothly??? lol really?? He has no fruit of a true Pastor.

I'm glad this blog is here to help others sort through the transition after Cornerstone. And those that come on here to "oppose" it: My question for you is, why are you so worried about it IF nothing we say is true?

  25. Part 1
Well, I was informed about this site by a fellow Cornerstone member. I was ready to defend Anonymous Apr. 21, 10:17 PM. I too have been a part of defending Michael over & over again. I am part of those who see him as anointed & able to preach the house down. As for Robert, I don't know. I have at times seen his "other" side & just tried to push it aside as a bad day or "crazy christian religious folk" making him a bit short-tempered. But then, there was the whole crazy change in his appearance. I too tried to push that aside & say we aren't supposed to judge appearances. And then, there was that wedding at the church that the Blade had an article about the Rev. Robert Pitts marrying one of the Blocks who own the Blade. I always thought you had to attend classes to be married at Cornerstone & I don't even think that those people attended Cornerstone, so that too had me wondering. Was that about money?? I'm sure Pastor Robert was compensated nicely for that, but who was the Rev. Jerry Jones? I have never heard of him and why would he be a part of a wedding ceremony at Cornerstone?

So, as I have read some of the recent postings here, I am left to stop & pause about some things. I have seen a tremendous amount of "mainstay" Cornerstone members who have left & nothing is ever said. I guess current members are really afraid to discuss it or ask questions. We just figure they had a disagreement, a falling out of unity with the house, or perhaps they are confused & listening to wrong spirits(people).

I have to wonder though. Why have so many left? These were strong leaders in Cornerstone. It is somewhat eerie if I do say so. Yet, no one speaks about it. We just continue on & Bishop encourages us like last week with his revelation on the different anointings like the prophetic, proclamation, conditional, & so on & makes it plain to us. And he really teaches us about praise & tells us it has become a doctrinal argument & we should just praise no matter what -run,clap, jump, whatever is in us to do whether we feel like it or not. So, what could be wrong with that? We should give God praise.

It all gets very confusing when I can make arguments both ways I suppose. How do you sort it all out? Who & what do you believe? I mean when you have been taught the "truth" for so many years & then you hear about a blog like this with so many former members who have come to see a different truth, it is enough to make your head spin.

I want to continue believing good things about the headship at Cornerstone, but now that I have read some things here, I must do some real soul searching. Anon. 11:14 PM made some very relevant comments as did Just Shaking my Head & Open your eyes. They really gave me things for serious consideration to mull over & pray about. I guess nobody wants to believe that the headhsip they have sat under for years could be misguided or deceptive because then I have to look at myself & say I have been deceived & led astray & that is very hard to swallow or believe.

I'll see how Easter service goes as it is usually very powerful & we have had awesome plays & anointed dancing in the past. Or maybe as someone said, I need to look at things in light of gifting vs. anointing. I will do my best to do that, but it is difficult as it seems one in the same at times. God uses your gift & anoints you in that gift to reach others, so how can one really tell the difference? Bishop Pitts is changing lives & 2 weeks ago all kinds of people came forward to have Jesus calm the storm in their lives. So to me he is still reaching people & that is what really counts.

    To be continued.

  26. Part 2

I'm back. I guess I had too many characters for one post. I didn't know there was a limit.

I am just so confused, but I will keep checking it out. If anyone else has anything else to say that will help me, I will listen with an open mind & heart. However, this is not an easy thing before me now that I have seen & read other opinions here from so many who have left. I guess you can't all be lying and "off" as many at Cornerstone would say about those who leave.

Help me please as I want to make sure that it is Christ I am following & not merely a man or men we have put on holy anointed pedestals. Cornerstone to me has always been a good church, very up-to-date and an excellent spirit. Bishop Pitts says the church should be able to keep up with the world so we can keep people coming and interested in church. Cornerstone definitely gets the WOW factor right.

I just don't know - HELP ME please as I check it all out.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I have a question too..
If you all no longer attend Cornerstone and have had so many negative experiences and are so very glad to be gone, why do some of you still watch online? Why do you still incessantly talk about, think about and obsess about Cornerstone? Why are you still obsessing after being gone for years? Why do you care if people are still there? Why do you care about anything that goes on there? I mean if you are so bent on "helping" the stupidos left there, then why is all this anonomous? Come out into the light and hold a news conference, expose the whole thing, present your "evidence"..
It is very easy to say things about people when no one knows who you are and cant hold you accountable, which may be the reason there are no lawsuits pending, hard to prosecute an anonomous blogger, whether or not you even attended there for real, and who you know. I mean why should a church full of people believe you anyway....And the 2 or 3 that have announced to the world who you are, well all I have to say is there is always 2 sides to every "story"...grow up folks, move on and find a good church to go to and worry about your own church and what is going on there. Sounds like you all need to work on your love walk....and ask the Lord to forgive your rebellion...

  28. Hello "Gina"...

Perhaps you are new to the blog. We ask that you please read through the articles before commenting. Again, this is Life AFTER Cornerstone. I think it is very clear by now that this blog was not created for the purpose of attacking our brothers and sisters who still attend. The focus here is restoring sound doctrine and helping others to heal from the effects of Spiritual Abuse. Of course from time to time we do have people like "checking it out" who still attends, but has questions. This is fine and we will continue to speak the truth in love to him/her and then allow the Holy Spirit to guide thereafter. All while allowing them to remain "anonymous" for the sake of not being villainized or written off as "stupidos". Really??

Why not allow those that left the space to "talk it out" and ask questions, as Leroy put so eloquently.

I understand that you may not "get it” yet, for I use to be RIGHT where you are. I also don't mind you commenting, but I ask that you please read through all the articles to get a better perspective and then pray about what has been shared.

Until then, this blog is for those who have already left and those who have legitimate questions.

  29. To Gina,

I guess I could ask, why are you reading this blogsite? Are you in doubt at some level or are you one of the defenders of Michael, Robert & Derek??

And how & why would so many of us lie? And how are we in rebellion? We seek to expose the truth as God's Word tells us to particularly when there are false teachings occurring.

Second, there are people in doubt who still go there & live in fear of questioning which in & of itself is an indication that the organization that they are a part of has serious control issues.

Third, obviously you have not read any of the articles on spiritual abuse, otherwise you would know why we still think about Cornerstone, & why we are concerned about our friend & loved ones who still go there. That is why we think about it. Some, at times, watch service online so that they know & are aware of the latest recycled teaching with a spin that our friends & loveD ones are exposed to, so that we can speak proper truth from the Word of God to them.

Fourth, you don't give of your heart & time & talent, & money to a church for 20 years & not still think about its impact on your life. It takes years to undo the thought processes and teaching that we were exposed to. Anyone who knows even a bit of psychology will understand that. It is like a divorce. If you have been married to someone for 20 years, you don't just get over it in short order.

And yes, I attended there FOR
REAL, was trained to do RTF, taught School of the Bible and Synergy classes, worked in the Project Breakthrough when we helped individuals seeking LMHA assistance, was an intercessor, helped in children's ministry etc. So, I was grounded there.

How is your love walk? Why are you so ready to criticize us? No one called you "stupidos", you called yourself that. Perhaps you feel that way at some subconscious level because you refuse to see all that is happening before your very eyes.

Let's look at the reference Checking It Out made to the Blade article and the fancy Block wedding at Cornerstone. I read the article. I know what Cornerstone policy used to be to get married there. I guess it has changed with all of the divorces and such and the in house dating of spouses' husbands and wives; Robert & his former secretary & her husband's questionable financial business practices who was not allowed to come back to Cornerstone. I guess Robert didn't want any feds on his tail. And the former secretary's new baby posted on FB that looks eerily like Robert. And what about Michael saying that if we married you at Cornerstone, you stay married while you are here. We don't allow divorce - work it out. Oh really? Perhaps that is why Kelly Pitts had to leave. No working it out there.

It is a wide open world out here now with technology and social networks, & everything can be looked up online. We don't just sit here & make it up.

We left because we could no longer sit under lasciviousness, pride, arrogance and false teachings which include the prosperity gospel. Jesus as you recall became very angry over the money changers making his house a den of thieves. I will say no more on that.

How about you work on your love walk toward us and stop assuming we are in rebellion, & take a look at your royal headship at Cornerstone who have led many astray & allowed others knowingly in sin to continue in sin. Disguise it in whatever nice programs and music and atmosphere you want, but the fruit of their bad sowing is evident everywhere.

We love you, we just don't want to fellowship with ya any longer. And yes, many of us are attending wonderful churches with pastors who are men of integrity, whose egos do not require continuous pumping up & whose hearts are toward Jesus, not the love of money.

  30. To “Checking it out”:
    Pt. 1

Thank you for your comment. You ask some very valid questions.

Over my years at Cornerstone, I can recall many times that things would come across my path and I would think “hmmm” wonder what that was about? Oh well, maybe it was because of “this or that” or maybe “it’s just me”. Maybe there was a disagreement and that’s why “so n so” left. Maybe the church is just going in a new direction now. Maybe, maybe, maybe… Oh yes, I remember quite well. Now I know it was the Holy Spirit STIRRING truth within me, prompting me to ask questions.

Friend, it’s very easy to allow our minds to justify the things that we don’t want to believe. Especially when it comes to a Pastor and Staff that you have grown to love over the years. As clearly seen on the blog, leaving itself is difficult and for most the transition ahead is full of sorting through things we NEVER wanted to be true. It is also a time of searching our own hearts in the process. Yes, lots of lessons to learn.

We have always made it a policy NOT to simply tell people, “Leave Cornerstone”. For there is so much WISDOM for everyone to glean in their own personal decision making process. I believe in extending grace to those who are just beginning… indeed, it’s a lot to take in initially. But you will find through the testimony of another, the Holy Spirit confirming the things He has already been trying to show you. Pay attention to the situations that cross your path.

    Ask yourself this question:
Do I really want to know the truth? Count the cost my friend. Because when you begin to ask questions and start uncovering the truth, things will never be the same. It will be hurtful to find out how quickly the tables are turned. Because in an Authoritarian Kingdom, people that ask questions are villainized and labeled as a threat. And threats are taken care of very quickly. Haven’t you noticed that almost everyone that leaves, disappears with no explanation? Except for “they” didn’t get their way, “they” were offended, “they” had wrong motives. It’s usually the long-term dedicated members who are treated this way out the door. Why? Couldn’t they be blessed and thanked for their service? Why the silence? Let’s consider David Martinez, Rich Maus, Dennis Carey, Larry Mack, Nick Cook…. How were they treated as they left??

As Leroy shared in his article, so much damage is done when leaders twist the truth for their own gain. Not to mention the ever present agenda to “protect their image” at all costs. Even if it means verbally slitting the throat of anyone who dare speak out… especially those sheep that are known to have a good reputation in the church. Many have found themselves forced to pick up their hearts off the floor on their way out the door. That is why “Heartbreak Warfare” causes those who know the truth to reach out in love…. to rescue those who are still in the dark.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Part II--

As far as “preaching the Word”…. A fig can easily be placed among a thornbush, so you will have to judge the CONSISTENT FRUIT. How does the leader act when he is under pressure? Does he/she take accountability and ownership for their actions? Or is everything just an “attack” and/or the fault of “those outside the church”??

Sprinkling some “good” here and there does not negate all the unscriptural leadership methods and teachings that have come to increasingly BE over the years. Not to mention lifestyle.

The problem in a “one man show” type church is that you are forced to judge the leadership by the 30-45 minute weekly appearance on the platform. He has a great gift. After all, not everything he preaches is false doctrine, right? However, the average “joe member” will have no personal contact or relationship with him whatsoever… you may never see how he interacts with others on a personal level. So, you will have to judge the FRUIT of his ministry and the rest will come by sense of smell (discernment).

Michael has traded in his beautiful “coat” for a collar… all while his brother cheers the show on despite the cost --think about it.

Do you just ignore all the leaven and look the other way, spending years of your life waiting for the former glory to return? Where is the accountability? There is a difference between “falling short” and living by your own set of “Rules”. Should we not expect more out of those who represent the Gospel of Jesus Christ? Friend, these types of structures usually implode from the inside out. What is currently being publically exposed, was going on behind closed doors for years. They have just come to a place where they can no longer “hide it”. Pastors and long-time members are figuring it out and hitting the doors. After watching countless opportunities for humility and accountability just keep passing by... you start waking up.

Most likely “everything” will not make sense before leaving, but it’s AS you move forward…. everything becomes clear.

    God Bless!

So if the Bible says sin is a reproach to any, what is reproach “a cause or occasion of disgrace or discredit.” And this not brought on by disgruntled people and this is not brought on by people who do not get their way and this is not brought on by haters of the church. It is simply the law of God. Scientifically we know for every action there is a reaction.
If there is sin in the camp, it came from somewhere. If the camp is full of sin it was grown somewhere and if the camp allows sin, it is desired somewhere. The word of God is so awesome, there is not one situation and our life which has not been addressed, and you must learn to extract the principles from the word of God in order to have clarity. Revelation and principles are not the same thing. Revelation changes as we are willing to receive more, but principles never change. I would urge all who are defensive of the leadership at cornerstone to remove yourself from your opinion and answer this.
How can you forgive what has not been confessed?
There has been a lot said from the bully pulpit by pastors on staff and from visiting ministry in defense, the question I would ask is why are they defending something they have not acknowledged?
How can you confess what you have no conviction of? You can't and you won't, until conviction set in..
Could Paul the apostle have drawn so many to the Gospel if he were currently involved in his past activity which was killing Christians? I know it's an oxymoron, and of course the answer is no. There was no hint that Paul was engaged in his past lifestyle while preaching the gospel, there was no accusations which logically commanded investigation and the only associations which caused questions to be raised dealt with the Jews.
Just shaking my Head said “Can't see the forest because all of the trees are in the way can you?”
I’ll say it this way you can’t see the entire mountain being so close to it’s side and when the implosion intensifies you won’t have the intellectual collateral to reason what your options should be, because you will have spent way too much time justifying what could never be justified. All that's going on there at cornerstone is not to get cornerstone to a new level, but it is God being faithful to his word by continually allowing you the free will to choose whom you will serve and to progress you to the next level, only if you choose to follow him.
Remember these terms, these are the ones used to form your opinion for you. "Judging”, “Sin”, “Religious”, “Past”, and they will all be directed towards those who disagree with headship there, rather than the eradication of sin which has infested the church on all levels.
I will conclude with this, I was at Cracker Barrel meeting with a young man for breakfast and I saw a lady who knows me very well from cornerstone, she saw me first but would not speak until I spoke and when she left, she walked by and never acknowledged that I was even there. This is the same ladies who danced with my wife and I played basketball with her husband. This only reinforces my conclusion that those of you who remain at cornerstone, though it may appear you are thinking for yourself, you are not. It is evidence of the fact you are thinking according to what has been said about me, rather than what I have actually done.
It was not said that I was homosexual and had homosexual tendencies, it was not said that I was sat down from the band or my sexual indiscretions, it was not said that everywhere I go, I pressure those to drink and indulge with me, but I am being treated as such, to which I say, thank you! I will count it all joy and continue with the “heart break warfare”.

"Speaking the Truth in Love" is right on the mark. I feel like I could have written it myself.
My family attended and was involved at Cornerstone for over 20 years. We have been gone about 18 mos. I miss the people terribly but knew I couldn't stay any longer. This blog has helped me realize we are not alone. We were not the only ones questioning things. This has given me peace. Thank you Leroy and others!

The ultimate passing grade when your faith is tested is your level of obedience to God. While it is God's job to atone and restore us to himself, during the course of our daily lives there is a process. It is this process which acclimates us to the nomenclature of God, as with our parents, after hearing them speak to us on a regular basis we learn exactly what they mean when they speak. There is no contradiction in God, neither does he have an opinion. So as I walk with him, and he speaks to me, I recognize clearly what he means.
It is the duplicitous nature of man which complicates the ability to hear and understand God. The Gospel is simple, it only gets complicated when we filter what God has said through our opinion and the opinions of others. It is important to understand you don't get new answers by asking the same questions; that being said, the questions I would ask are: how is leadership in the church supposed to handle fornication, adultery, homosexuality, lasciviousness and the like? God is very clear as to how it should be handled. The example is given multiple times in the Bible. It is these multiple examples which we have to glean from. Contrary to what your external source would say (being a man) God loves through discipline, and he draws with love and his goodness leads you to repentance.
Here is where the rubber meets the road, when repentance is not found in a man, it is a sign that his flesh rules and his confidence and consolation is in his fleshly works, therefore, all concern he has for others is merely a façade. It is the hardness of the heart which causes a man to present himself as a representative of God while contradicting what God has said by "lifestyle".
Here's what I have learned from my own callous and sinful experiences. No matter what the endeavor of sin I embarked upon, where I started and where I ended was never the same location and it soon gets to the place where you no longer have to make a decision to sin, but simply decide which sin to yield to. This progression clouds the mind and you will find yourself saying “I might as well because I've already done ___________” (fill in the blank) and I had the understanding that there is no degree of sin with God, this was my justification for indulging in more.
Now having learned this from my own personal experience, when I witness leadership exhibiting the exact callous, cold and arrogant mentality, it does not mean that they are being lied on, criticized or maligned.
    The Bible says Prov 14:33-35
33 Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known. 34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. 35 The king's favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame. KJV

  35. @Gina,

My name is Angela Sanchez and I am one of those that have left four years ago after 2 DUIs. I would love for you or anyone for that matter; take a look at my ten years of service there. Please take a long hard look and judge the fruit of my life and service there. Judge the relationships and discipleships of those that I worked with. Please give me a name of one person that could discredit my character and “love walk” while I was there. However, magically after I left, I became "dangerous." I was in eight ministries, and taught the addictions synergy group. I also preached in the prison, Cherry Street mission, and headed up the Focus Rehab (drug and alcohol treatment program) ministry. Never once while I was there was any action that was in question, or any altercation with any of the staff. NEVER. I find it so amazing that upon leaving my character was defamed so easily.

I know of several people that were told to not associate with me or speak to me. All of a sudden there were people that were forced (told to choose to be friends with me, or leave a ministry) to make a decision about our friendship. Wow. That sounds awful cultish to me. I also had a friend that told me to my face (when he asked me why we left) that he could not be my friend because he had to choose between me or MP....odd, I hadn't even finished the conversation yet. I did not force this decision or even present it for that matter. It was an automatic response. Why? Probably because that is what he had seen done for so many years to others.

I personally have not tuned into one service online as the sound of MPs voice makes me nauseated. I am serious, not physical nausea, that yucky feeling in my "gut." It is called discernment. Discernment gives you proper judgment of truth. This is my highest spiritual gifting, but unfortunately I learned to turn it off when I came into the CS building. I urge you to read these articles and fast and pray about what the truth really is. Better yet, I DARE YOU TO FAST AND PRAY FOR DISCERNMENT AND REVELATION OF TRUTH. If you really want to know why none of us have been served with a lawsuit, it is because RP and MP know the truth. I am quite sure by now they know MY name :)

I would wager to say Gina that you are in some serious denial and really have need of a 12 step recovery program for codependency. I will pray for you as I am sure that you are a beautiful person that has so many gifts and talents. A leader should be above reproach…..Above it. Their lives should not have even the appearance of sin….as the word instructs us all. I am not perfect, but when you judge the relationships and overall content and fruit of my life, I am not a fig tree that isn’t bearing fruit.

  39. I used to know someone who was friends with a big wig in the Toledo business scene. He didn't go to C Stone (always new it was a money grab) but I remember him saying that this guy said to him one day...dude...do you know how much RE C Stone owns in Toledo?

Keep on giving to the machine folks. It's one big scam and it's your fault if you read all these posts and continue to feed the machine.

MP and RP are full fledged Charlatans who twist the scripture to get your money in the name of seeds and tithes.

I would venture to think that if you keep digging it gets more and more interesting....

  40. Who knows what it is. Perhaps someone can enlighten us. Years ago, after Cornerstone first moved to where it was and they had the AM radio station and then they had the FM radio station and Cornerstone was going "big time" and was really blessed, I had heard that Robert actually owned those and somehow funneled them through the church as he also did with apts. and condos they owned behind the church.

It's all a racket or criminal enterprise of some sort if you ask me. I remember when Robert stood up in church one time and said Cornerstone owned the whole Hill's plaza and who knew what we were going to do with all that space. Everybody got so excited and stood up and cheered and clapped. It was nothing but a lie from the platform. They never owned the whole plaza. It just made for good hype and played into all of the control and manipulation of people's minds and emotions.

Oh, and let's not forget the TV station that Robert swindled from the guy who was a former Cornerstone member and Robert gave him a $10,000 loan from the church to keep the station afloat. I thought Cornerstone wasn't a bank. Oh yea, it is when it will profit Robert or Michael. And no, I am not making that up - go to the Blade archives, the articles are there.

Folks still going there need to wake up. Robert and Michael are of corrupt minds. They are all smoke and mirrors and appearances. Even Robert's wife, soon to be ex-wife figured it out and she is gone folks - not coming back.

Wake up Cornerstone members and smell the coffee. Sin is rampant among certain leaders there, particulrly in the Fine Arts dept. Gee, I wonder why? Leroy's comments were right on. The reproach in the house is not from "disgruntled" former members. It is a direct cause of the sin that flows down from the head to the body.

Leroy also made it clear in that when you harden your heart and don't repent, you no longer try to resist the sin, you just give in to it and yield your members to it. All resistance is gone and it is a very sad place to be.

So, for those like Ms. Gina, who regard us with disdain and allude to the fact that we are in rebellion, Leroy is again right, you are not thinking for yourself. You are merely parroting what you hear.

  41. Why are both sides so intent on proving that they are right, that they both forget to show that they are righteous. Its no wonder that people flee religion and turn away from God. Start a church if you know the way, especially if the gifts that are bragged about here are half what people claim. If you can provide a better more truthful and honest ministry, people will leave MP and come to you without any need to bicker about who's right and who's wrong the evidence will be easy to see.Or continue to snipe back and forth at each other and reinforce the beliefs of atheist that none of you know what your talking about, and its all one big scam.

    ReplyDelete
  42. There will be those like (anonymous) above who are simply attempting once again to "reframe" the argument... yawn

My question is: If Michael and Robert have truly "shifted" onto the next level (as they claim), then why all the worry over the words of those who have left? After all, members are nothing more than just "stupid sheep" anyway right? So why the persistent NEED to "defend" against those who pose no threat, especially those who are now living without your "supernatural covering"? Cannot people simply LEAVE and journey forward without Pharaoh running behind them??

However, "anonymous" is right about one thing: Businesses ran under the guise of a Church = Scam.

It’s clear by now that no help is needed in “proving” that Michael and Robert are “wrong” –the rotten fruit is apparent as its odor permeates all throughout the building.

As I said earlier about HYPOCRISY, it is “appearing” to others that you have something to offer… that you actually do not possess to give. This is why Jesus cursed (pronounced judgment) on the fig tree… it bragged of leaves, but underneath revealed the truth –NO COINCIDING FRUIT. According to Jesus, you can give financially and declare the “blessing” all day long, but you are already [declared] CURSED because you are proclaiming “fruit” that you are unable to produce. (An “atheist” need not worry about such –because they have willfully departed from the faith and are no longer apart of the Church to begin with.)

Perhaps if those who represent the “church” would actually DEMONSTRATE what they keep “saying” they have, maybe those living in darkness would be open to the Gospel. In the meantime, are we to ignore the leaven and allow its continual damage? Are we to look the other way for sake of “appearances”. Certainly Cornerstone is not the only church given over to sensationalism and mammon…

As for those commenting, they have found liberty in discovering that “sides” do not exist outside of the “cornerstone culture”. Such “sides” and “levels” are nothing more than the common verbiage used in typical cult atmospheres. Simply put, it’s a mentality and a stronghold used to control. God doesn’t take “sides”, He simply takes over.

The real question is, are individuals standing for Truth not a “person” or a “side”? Even Moses had enough sense to say to the people when presenting them with (Truth) the 10 Commandments: “Who is on the side of the LORD?”

•Am I standing on the side of TRUTH• is the real question to ask ourselves…

  43. @Anon 0830,
I would like to know why you are even on this site as it is for people to have open dialogue in a safe environment. Or, if you have legitimate questions and are seeking truth. You seem to know all the answers, so why are YOU here? As for us bragging about our gifts, I don't recall any person bragging. I guess if we use ourselves as examples to talk about something, then that would be your definition of bragging??? I'm sorry, that is called being transparent.....something that is not taught at CS...FORGOT! On behalf of those that are bragging, we were good enough to preach for the church for years, SO I guess they just let anybody do that….. right? It is not bragging to know which spiritual gifts that you possess, isn't that why there was the 3-D....to familiarize ourselves with which giftings we have and join a ministry that would best suit our giftings.
As far as us starting our own church since we are so gifted, I am certain that was never my intention upon leaving and not one of those who have left wanted to draw other to themselves. Not everybody is after being wealthy and exalted; some of us minister for the sheer motive to bring people to CHRIST.

If you would like to know why I left, I just saw the ungodly behavior (DUI's, adultery, sexual promiscuity, babies out of wedlock by people that currently serve) from MP right on down to a lot of others in the congregation. I guess it is hard to hold anybody accountable when you are living in sin yourself. We are not talking about slipping up here; we are talking living a double life. I personally know of several divorces within the body where there was adultery and it was never dealt with properly. But by all means, let’s just look the other way. We are talking about marriages failing and children now with broken homes. This is for the rest of their lives! Wouldn't want to actually follow SCRIPTURE and address the sin within the church now would we? So are you saying that since we are working on our own recovery that we are "bickering" and causing those outside the church to stay in darkness? Amigo, you give us way too much credit. I have never spoken of this once to a non-believer or a Christian who did not attend CS in the past. You seem to just have a problem with communication period, because information is power, contrary to what is taught there. It was taught there that the quest for information is dangerous....Just look at MP's book "Soul Ties" it is in the first chapter. The 3 dangers he talks about are 1. Hunger for information 2.Hunger for spirituality and 3. Hunger for relationship. That book was written in 1987, so that unhealthy thinking goes back that far. When unhealthy mindsets are NOT challenged, they breed corruption. This is what has happened. God forbid if someone would not agree with MP or RP. That is grounds for dismissal. We are supposed to challenge those that are called to lead us! That is scriptural. They are to be an example in righteousness, THAT IS WHAT GOD’S WORD SAYS!!! What I wonder is if those that think that we are lying or exaggerating if you really read and study the bible. Do you pray and ask the Holy Spirit to help you to understand what sound doctrine is and what is really going on? Or do you just take what is said from the pulpit and sprinkle some scripture on it and make it fit what is being taught there?

I think I would agree with Angela and DARE you to fast and pray for God to show you the TRUTH.What could it hurt? It isn’t that we want to be right, it is that there are many good people that are being led astray. When Paul addressed the Corinthian church he had to come against ungodly behavior. Was he disgruntled and bragging? No, he was trying to keep people from being led away from sound doctrine.

    To LOOOOONG Gone,

Excellent summation of the facts as they are. I too have been amazed at the continued biblical ignorance of those who defend Michael, Robert and Cornerstone in spite of the rampant sin and miinmizing of sin in the house. That is the obvious in your face stuff going on. The wrong doctrine is a bit more difficult to uncover when you are blinded to everything else, so they just continue to worship the "anointed" leaders at Cornerstone and berate those of us, who once our eyes were opened, listened to the Holy Spirit and left in spite of the pain it caused us.

What really blows my mind though is how David and Toni Banks, Jeffrey Smith and Janet Wend can just turn a blind eye and say nothing to Michael and Robert. I guess they know better and have seen where it got the other leaders who opened their mouths in disagreement as to what they knew was going on. It is amazing what so called christian pastors/leaders will do for power, position and money. As for Derek, the so called worship leader, he is a shame and disgrace and should just step down and get his life together. Of course when you look at his face on the Cornerstone website, he's all about looking hot and seeking fame $$$$$. Then of course there is also Alan, where do you begin with that??

I mean really, how do these people live with themselves and the double lives they lead? Michael would never ask either one of them to step down as their gifts are keeping people there because "the music is so good". Good music does not the anointing bring. Anointing comes from a separated life and a submitted life to Christ, not to man.

So to sum it up, Michael won't address the sin on his staff because it might jeopardize his man-made money making kingdom. I can see a "mistake" being made one time and mercy given and forgiveness granted. But come on people, these are fleshly lascivious lifestyles, not a momentary one time weakness where they repented and turned from their wicked ways and humbly asked forgiveness. No, not at all.

It is for all of those reasons that we who look to one another for support on this blog have left the camp of Cornerstone. Sometimes the truth hurts.

  52. So really, what's it all about? Can a well-known church and pastor really be so corrupt, so immoral, so sinful in nature? If he were, why so many followers?

Aren't we all sinful to one degree or another? The entire world is in a tailspin right now. Wouldn't you think the church would also be that way? After all who knows what to believe anymore. It's all so confusing. Yea, I get the whole getting saved thing, but what about after that? You find a church you like and sure, it's not perfect, but who and what is?

I guess I've pretty much lost hope in most everything, then you find a website like this. Crazy stuff. Sometimes I wonder if this whole Bible and Jesus thing is for real. I know it takes faith, but has anybody else ever really stopped to think about this whole God inspired Bible thing.

I mean here's a God who supposedly has been and always will be. And then He comes up with this grand plan to save mankind by killing His only begotten Son. And then we are to give our lives to Him and sacrifice all the days of our lives and face all kinds of things such as we are now in accordance with end time stuff, birthing pains I guess, right now, from what I have seen and heard. But, it's supposed to get worse, but we will get raptured out of here while all of the people who aren't saved will suffer great tribulation. Mind-blowing when you think about it. And if God is so great and loving and merciful and kind, why cause His Son to suffer and die for us? Can't there be a better way? If God is so powerful and we are supposed to inherit His blessings and gain wealth by sowing seed according to churches like Cornerstone, then why are so many still living mediocre lives in Toledo? Is God's fault or ours?

I mean really, how does anyone know for sure that christianity is the way because the Bible says so? I mean after all, none of the christian churches seem to get along and all believe differently, so what really matters aside from salvation? If that is the basic crux of christianity, why get all hung up on the other stuff that a church does? As far as I can tell, Pitts still preaches Jesus is the way to salvation.

I don't know, maybe it's just late and I am an over-intellectual of little faith. I mean does anybody out there ever really stop and think about this whole Bible thing and how it ever came to a man dying for our sins, but He's really God? And how can it be that life is so unfair? How can God allow earthquakes and tornados if He created everything? Why create an earth that causes such things? Why can't an omnipotent God create an earth that is far less destructive toward His creation?

And my oh my that there has to be a blog for individuals who need support after leaving a church...again, mind blowing. Why can't God just put a stop to such evil if Cornerstone is so off doctrinally and it is so controlling and caught up in sin? Again, we will never all agree on anything doctrinally, so if Jesus is preached as the only way, what else really matters?

I guess I am just a wondering soul without much hope or faith and wondered if anybody else ever questions the realm of christianity. I for one would want to go to a church that makes me feel way better than I did before I got there. Can't that be part of this whole christian thing, making others feel good in the midst of a crappy world???

    Needing some hope and answers....

    ReplyDelete
  53. It's me again, an anonymous nobody. I just got to thinking about some other crazy stuff related to the Bible and endtime stuff. Why does the U.S. have to go broke and then a one world gov't and one world monetary system have to occur? Why does there have to be an anti-christ? I mean really, we as christians already know who God and Christ are. Makes no sense.

I can see why people believe Pitts's endtime views. It sounds so much better than all of this other scary stuff. I mean at least Michael doesn't dwell on the negative. After all, why does an all powerful God allow despotic men to rule and create hatred and all manner of ungodly things to occur. Yea, I know the whole free will thing, but really as christians we will suffer to, so what gives with knowing Jesus if christians are still poor and dying in tragic ways? What about all of those blessings? Maybe Pitts has the answer. Who wouldn't want to beleive that we are going to overcome all evil and gain all of the wealth of the wicked before Jesus retruns?

Michael seems to know more than most about blessings and wealth and going to new levels. Maybe it's some new dimension and only he and Robert have arrived at along with all of the other mega million pastors??

If the world is so unfair, and the world is unjustly redistributing wealth, shouldn't the church with all of its wealth at least be doing something for the poor in the cities?? Why just pour money into fancy buildings with Italian marble floors and sinks and big fancy sound systems and big expensive offices lavished with all manner of things paid for by hard-working tithing members who struggle and live on budgets? And what about the single moms who need diapers and formula for their children?

Should a man like Pitts who runs a mega millions church being do more for this city and the members of his own church who have fallen on hard times? Or should he enjoy the fruits of his labor??

It all just makes me wonder...being a christian in these times is difficult and men like Pitts don't make it any easier. It just makes those of us on the fence want to jump off into the realm of who really cares.

Life is a crapper and then you have to deal with all of this Cornerstone mess.I like the church, but this blog leaves me questioning, doubting so much. Who and what to believe anymore?????

  56. Anon 1250....

simpley put Paul instructs leaders in his epistles to preach Christ, and Him crucified. There is just so much else that is being preached at CS that sets new believers up for failure. When you are taught that life is about being blessed, possessing land, and having dominion, you miss the point of Jesus. We are charged by Jesus himself to teach others to obey all of Christ's teachings. Jesus suffered and was a servant. Those are not things that you are taught at CS. Let me rephrase that, you ARE taught to serve leadership because it benefits them. God never told us to submit to leadership within the church. Never! God tells us to submit one to another. That means that we are to be accountable to eachother. We are all equal, but there is clearly a higher standard for those that are in leadership. Yes, everyone is going to mess up, but to live in a lifestyle of sin, and even continually sinning EVEN with repentence should signal us to take a break and rectify the problem. Nobody is saying that MP or anyone for that matter is to be blameless...But 2 DUI's is a big signal that there is something seriously wrong. OK, so that was like four years ago and how do we know that that behavior is still going on??? It has never been publicly talked about or apologized for. This is due to a lack of accountability.

So if you are seriously questioning if there are people that are really living their faith, the answer my friend is "YES" Unfortunately, most of those of us who are have left CS; as it is increasingly difficult to stay in an evironment that is that unhealthy when you are truely seeking after God. My suggestion would be for you to check out other churches in your area and sample a little variation in your diet. If you eat nothing but fruit, even though it is good for you, you will become unhealthy. There really are other churches that are feeding their sheep a good diet. Please remember that just because you aren't used to the taste of something doesn't mean it isn't good for you :)

Anon, life can be quite confusing at times, just remember to allow the Holy Spirit and God's word be your guide in all things. Open your thoughts and heart to God and seek truth and I guarentee that clarity will come. I will be praying for you on this journey. The only direction we are instructed to go in is to follow Jesus. No matter what church you are in, if it isn't challenging you to become more Christ-like everyday......run like heck. Jesus in all his Diety didn't preach about levels, paradigms, and mantles.......He taught us to love God, and love others. Good luck my friend!

  57. To Anonymous:
    Part 1

Thank you for your comments, I will try to answer some of your questions without writing a short epistle. I think what you need right now is a little talk with an army drill sergeant (of faith) if you will, to bring you out of this rut of discouragement…

    Anonymous Soldier:
In the times that we live in, we must CONTINUALLY FEED OUR FAITH, by drawing closer to our personal relationship with Jesus Christ and fellowshipping with strong believers of the Word.

When you feel overwhelmed with questions and concerns, you must sit down and ask yourself: Where is my faith? Are you going to allow your faith to waver whenever you hear of public leaders/pastors falling off the path? Are you going to allow the “shaking” of these days to dictate the direction of your faith? Is your blood bought SALVATION in Jesus Christ that fragile? Are the cares and worries of this life able to sink your ship? God forbid!!

Of course, I understand your questions… even the best of us can get into a rut of discouragement from time to time (especially if we are not praying/reading the Word). BUT we cannot afford to stay there… especially LEANING upon our own understanding when we face obstacles. We must remind ourselves –JESUS CHRIST is LORD and HE IS IN CONTROL AT ALL TIMES. Sometimes it doesn’t feel like it, but faith is not based upon our “feelings”… it is based on TRUTH AND TRUST. Not in man, but in our Covenant with the Lord Jesus Christ.

We have even been given his Spirit as a deposit guaranteeing our victory! Eph. 1:13,14 “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession— to the praise of his glory.”

    My question for you:
What have you (or rather who has) been feeding your faith?? This could pinpoint the root of your “anemic” condition. Which brings me to my next point and the REASON why this blog isn’t merely “getting hung up on all the other stuff” as you put it.

In Matt. 24 Jesus clearly warns us of the times ahead of the Church:
“And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”

  58. Part II

This is the age you were born into Soldier –“for such a time as this”. So either you live in FEAR or you buckle down with the Word of God and walk worthy of the vocation in which you have been called. Walk in authority and feel the burden of Nehemiah to restore the “spiritual walls of the church” in these last days! The harvest is ready and is in need of the TRUTH that you have already been given!

At times, things will get hard and your walk will experience trials, but remember THERE IS PURPOSE TO EVERY TEST:
"know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. [BUT] Perseverance must finish its work SO THAT YOU MAY BE MATURE AND COMPLETE, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God.."

Remember that His Grace is there to help you to fulfill what He has commissioned you to do! Again, it is VITAL that we spend time fellowshipping/communing with the Holy Spirit --this is key! FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH! Get into your WORD… it is your ONLY defense against teachings that lead your faith and mind astray.

Church is not about “feeling good”. It is to come together to equip believers for the work of the ministry, to edify the Body of Christ and to worship/fellowship with other believers. The Church is a living Body. We are living stones. Again, what are you feeding on?? What is influencing your THOUGHTS that would cause you to question whether Christianity is the way? This speaks to me that you are in deep need of spending time in fellowship with the Holy Spirit -your pesonal relationship with Christ.

Jesus said, I am the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE. NO ONE comes to the Father, EXCEPT BY ME. Friend, do not allow the enemy to influence your mind and allow you to forget the moment this message first bore WITNESS in your spirit.

    ReplyDelete
  59. And lastly Pt. 3-

As you said, God created mankind with a will. Otherwise we would be mindless robots. Adam and Eve fell, why focus on the “fall” when you can focus on the POWER OF THE RESURRECTION?!

God COULD HAVE allowed us to continue on living in that fallen state of darkness, but in his loving kindness he CHOSE to give all and make a way to reconcile us to Himself! All power and authority has been given unto us through the cross of Jesus Christ –you need no man to “cover” you with a cross and a robe. This deceptive teaching is leading many captive and hostage when God is trying to lead them by His Spirit. Almost everyone who has left Cornerstone, has had to get back to being able to Discern and Hear the Voice of the Holy Spirit vs. that of man… this should not be and is sapping the walk of the believer!

This is exactly WHY we openly call out false teachings on this blog –just look at the damage in the Body of Christ, not to mention the lives of those who have been shipwrecked as a result! Of course a false teacher is not going to openly say, “I deny Jesus as Lord.” But the Bible says that they DENY HIM IN THEIR LIFESTYLE and THIS is what you are to look for in a false leader. (2 Peter)

At the end of the day, this is the “litmus test” for every Leader: “When you leave their presence, are you drawn closer to them… or pointed in the direction of following the heart and rulership of Christ for yourself?” You see my friend, false teachers deceive themselves by distorting the scriptures to FIT their “revelation”. They do all of the above, by using their GIFTINGS to draw others to themselves… that they may further their cause.

Titus 1:11 clearly warns us that False teachers “must be silenced because they mislead whole families by teaching for dishonest gain what ought not to be taught.”

Friend, this is not about expecting “perfection”, but about consistent fruit. There is a difference between "falling short" and living a lifestyle of it. Have you seen any transparency, accountability or repentance?

And to answer your comment on the "appearance" of prosperity:
NO –“Bishop” Michael Pitts does NOT know everything about wealth and blessing. He and his brother have simply trained themselves to just take up really good offerings… I wonder if they would continue to show up, if the offerings were suddenly cut in half?

•Peace is found in CONTENTMENT, while selfish ambition and jealousy bread within a COVETOUS heart. Selah

And lastly, I absolutely agree with you. It’s sad that a blog or support system of any sort would be needed after a “church” experience. But unfortunately, Cornerstone is a Spiritually Abusive church that simply writes off those who leave and villainizes the ones who have witnessed behavior that is contrary to scripture.

Michael and Robert simply believe they are above any reason or question. They have become an island and law unto themselves.

My advice for you is to start getting into your Word and depart from those who teach you “greasy-grace” messages. These are nothing more than ministers of darkness, who are misleading households of faith. Following the way of Balaam...

Find a Pastor that has the heart of a true Shepherd, one who points you back to the Cross and encourages your faith by leading you to walk in the Power of the Spirit.

  60. From MP's Facebook Page:

live and love the UP life..give no attention to Down people who cannot celebrate ur upness,,.BE BIG ..BE STRONG..BE GOOD..love strong people.

Where does this guy come up with this stuff?

What you should give attention to is how much of what this guy preaches is heresy and doctrines of devils. I am still waiting for an actual scripture verse in context on one of these FB posts.

From the looks of it, it may be a long wait.

What you should give attention to is the FACT that pretty much every solid God fearing leader with a ministry calling has left this Church because of the control, spiritual abuse, manipulation, and greedy spirit that resides on this man.

I mean just read the hundreds of testimonies on this site alone about this guy.

    Follow Jesus and not Man.

  61. I wonder what Jesus would say about only hanging with the UP people and strong people. Michael needs to read the Bible and see who Jesus hung out with and very few were UP and strong.

What about the poor in spirit, the poor period, the sick and infirmed, the lsot and hurting who aren't so UP?

Give me a break. The guy is nothing more than a new age wind bag in a religious costume when he feels like putting it on.

Help him Jesus return to you and the purity of Your Word.

I pray it is not too late.

  62. Well, I'm back. I have had some time to think and pray and digest all of your responses to my doubting and questioning mind.

I guess perhaps my faith has been lacking do to lack of time in God's Word. I guess merely sitting in a church on Sunday no matter how good the music or how hyped up the atmsophere is does not necessarily equate to increasing Christ-like faith in your life.

Also, as Speaking truth in Love said, am I being more drawn to a man and a church after I leave or am I drawn more to the heart and rulership of Christ? A very eye opening question indeed. If I am honest, I would probably say I feel more drawn to the man Michael Pitts and Cornerstone because there is such a strong allegience there by those who attend and when Bishop preaches,it really seems to be directed to us in there vs. the rest of them out there. It's kind of like you feel like nobody can stop us or harm us or the devil can't touch us because as Pastor Smith preached, if God is for us, who can be against us? He preached it strong and I just felt like none of these blogs or anything that people read and comment on can touch us in there because we all have a special anointing because Bishop has always said he is our covering and if you don't have a covering, you open yourself up to the enemy and miss out on the blessing of your headship. I guess it's like receiving the same reward the prophet receives, but if you don't have a spiritual covering, you miss out on those blessings and rewards.

So, it can be confusing when that is all you have heard for years and then you start reading the things on this blog and it's like what the heck...?

Maybe you all are right and maybe I need to let the Holy Spirit lead me and not Bishop's words all the time. I guess if you look at the Apostle Paul, he never said such things to those who followed him about him being their covering. He also did not put himself in a spiritually higher level than those he preached to. He merely tried to get them to see Christ crucified and died for their sins and so they should die to themselves. If I look to that, i guess I can honestly say, I can't remember a message like that preached at Cornerstone in a looong time. It is always about us and our next blessing or breakthrough or level.

So, I am still sorting things out and wondering about making an exit. However, I am not quite sure yet.

Thank you all for your patience with me and for your honest yet at times tough love comments. It is truly meat to chew on.

  63. To Anonymous:

Thanks for your honest feedback. I appreciate your transparency and I encourage you to keep seeking. Because it is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honor of kings to search a matter out. In seeking, we find the information we need to make the decisions that face us right now. Most often, God uses every single one of our small steps to get us to where He intends us to be. God doesn't "drive us", He leads us.... The KEY is to not fear the “unknown” of what lies ahead.

I'm also glad that you have found the blog a safe place to process your questions. We’ve certainly all been in that valley of decision before. Finding ourselves trying to determine whether our mindset was a result of “sound doctrinal teaching” or was it rather a result of what we were conditioned to believe over the years. I have found that it’s usually the little things that are twisted “just right” that keeps us blind; you can always find a “kernel” of truth in there somewhere… but you have to ask yourself how are they applying it? What is the motivation for the application?

I think almost all of us believed too that those that left were “against us” or “offended”. Funny thing was I never bothered calling any of these people to check on them or to even ask them why they left. Perhaps I was afraid to find out what I didn’t want to know… it was easier to just “write them off” and keep myself hopped up on the “nothing is stopping us” train. (After all, who wants to hear an ugly truth that would sink all you've invested over the years.) In fact, it seemed like whenever there was an arrest, it almost recharged the atmosphere with the whole “us vs. them” mentality. But you live and you learn and that is life for everyone.

The important thing is that we remain humble and keep moving forward with truth.
